Join us for The Great Brain Storm! This month, we are going to connect over issues of way finding and creative placemaking, two made up words that reference how a community is designed (well or not so much). How can we, as a downtown community, dream up the practical, beautiful, and cool vision of our downtown? Think pathways, fixtures, storefronts, and more! One part of the conversation may be a walking tour of downtown, so dress for the weather. Participants are invited to participate in conversations with "design thinking" facilitator, Heidi Jeub.
We provide food, coffee, and tea. Free Will donation accepted.

“Design Thinking is not an exclusive property of designers — all great innovators in literature, art, music, science, engineering, and business have practiced it. So, why call it Design Thinking? What’s special about Design Thinking is that designers’ work processes can help us systematically extract, teach, learn and apply these human-centered techniques to solve problems in a creative and innovative way — in our designs, in our businesses, in our countries, in our lives.” - Rikke Friis Dam and Teo Yu Siang

I’m not just the owner of the Whit Gallery, but I’m also an avid and insistent problem solver. While this probably comes from my earlier college years in architecture, it also has proven itself beneficial in my work as a public artist and community engagement specialist.
Design Thinking and Art of Hosting are both facilitation protocols that I find very helpful in building trust, finding solutions quickly, and leveraging resources efficiently.
At the same time, I see this type of event as “simple” in how it’s implemented, regularly scheduled, and focused on issues we face as a community.
