Introducing: Prism Path
It’s an honor to share a new project— funded by the Central Minnesota Community Foundation and the Downtown Fund— as part of an overarching initiative: Alleyway of Art! Prism Path is a concept inspired by color, beyond ROY G. BIV and the typical rainbow— it’s the beauty of how we mix colors to create subtle (or no-so-subtle) variations of what we know to be a color.
With the help of top-notch community engagement guru, Tyler Bevier, I plan to engage with the St. Cloud Community— bringing forth the process that artists are very much in tune with— color mixing. Seems simple, but frankly, it is a discipline of proportion and patience that leads to successful works of art. We are hosting 4 community events (two at Books Revisited, and two at the St. Cloud Farmers Market) where color is our focus, and the general public can contribute.
The activities will inspire the final installation— due between September 1 - 15, 2026— when I will work with 3 assistant artists to install a variation of what we discover during our engagement with the community.
I personally love stating a concept, such as Prism Path, but let the definition that concept be morphed as more and more people engage with the idea. My ideas are never fully decided when facing a blank canvas— it must be influenced by the environment for which it is created, the people in that space, and the socialization of the artist to the community.
