CALL FOR ART ACTIVITIES
St. Cloud's 30th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
Heijeu Arts is seeking teaching artists to provide engaging art activities for St. Cloud's 30th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. This beloved community event brings together hundreds of families to celebrate freedom, community, and African American culture.
We're looking for artists to facilitate hands-on art activities (visual arts, performing arts, crafts, etc.) that welcome participants of all ages and abilities throughout this 3-hour outdoor celebration.
ARTIST COMPENSATION
$250 stipend per artist
PLUS materials/supplies provided (up to $100 per artist)
Total per artist: $350 value
Note: art supplies and tools will be provided by Heijeu Arts, unless very specialized.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Central MN Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Activities that are:
Accessible to all ages – families with young children through seniors
Drop-in format – participants can join anytime during the 3-hour event
Culturally responsive – honoring the significance of Juneteenth
Outdoor-friendly – weather-appropriate (with backup plan for rain)
High-capacity – able to serve many participants throughout the afternoon
Celebratory – joyful, community-building, fun!
Examples of past successful activities:
Collaborative mural painting
Button-making or badge design
African-inspired pattern/textile design
Portrait drawing stations
Percussion/drumming circles
Dance workshops
Spoken word/poetry activities
Freedom flag creation
Community banner-making
WHAT HEIJEU ARTS PROVIDES
✓ All art supplies and materials (based on your proposal)
✓ Table(s), tent/shade structure if needed
✓ Setup and breakdown support
✓ Promotional support (your activity listed on event materials)
✓ Event coordination and logistics
✓ $250 artist stipend
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
Proposal should include:
Activity description – What will participants do/create?
Materials list – What supplies do you need? (Don't price it out—just list everything)
Space requirements – How many tables? Tent? Floor space? Electrical access?
Capacity – How many people can participate at once? Throughout the event?
Age range – Best suited for which ages? (Or all ages?)
Cultural connection – How does your activity honor Juneteenth and the celebration of freedom?
Backup plan – What if it rains or is very hot?
Plus:
Brief artist bio (2-3 sentences)
Photos/examples of similar work (if available)
